Discuss The Link between Unemployment & the real GDP Introduction to Economics

ESSAY (15%) – The Link between Unemployment & the real GDP Introduction to Economics, Section 22, Fall 2017
Due date: Monday, November 20th at the beginning of the lesson
Goal of the Essay
Your objective, as an economist, is to explain why the unemployment rate can be used as a tool to assess the economic health of a country and prove it with data. You must assume that your audience has never taken any economics courses. Therefore, not only will you clarify the inverse relationship between the level of the real GDP and the unemployment rate, but you will also define the concepts used.
Said differently, the question that you will try to answer is the following:
Is there an inverse relationship between the Gross Domestic Product and the unemployment rate?
As a true social scientist, you must back up your claims with data. Thus, you will present data on the real Gross Domestic Product from Statistics Canadas website. You will also summarize and cite 1 article and plot a graph on the state of unemployment regarding the Canadian recession of 2008.
Context
You must explain in an essay the Canadian recession of 2008 and analyze one of its consequences, unemployment. As it is not an editorial, you cannot present your opinion: The paper will be written in the third person and will only display facts.
